Collections at St Andrews University
The Collections Centre of the University of St Andrews houses a significant portion of the collections of Scotland's oldest university. Under the care of the museum team, there are over 115,000 objects from the fields of art, history, science, and medicine, serving both research and teaching purposes. Three of these collections are recognized as "Recognised Collections" of national importance: the heritage, chemistry, and scientific instruments collections.

Research offerings at Collections Centre

These objects are actively used for research and teaching purposes, as well as for loans and exhibitions. Researchers are offered the opportunity to study the collections by appointment.

Research and Educational Offerings
Art and science in Scotland
The Collections Centre supports research and teaching through access to its extensive collections. Efforts are made to digitize the entire collection to expand access and make the objects accessible to a wider audience. While basic information is already available in a collections database, digitization is an ongoing process, and the online database does not yet include every object.
Access and Contact
The Collections Centre is accessible to researchers and interested individuals who wish to make an appointment to study the collections or obtain information about specific objects or parts of the collection. Inquiries can be directed to the curator team via email at museumenquiries@st-andrews.ac.uk.
